Call him Zorro !! (Za`w - row)

Many of my friends asked me the meaning of my dob's name (Zorro), until which I never bothered to know. Later I searched the web to get the answer. It’s a Spanish name meaning FOX.

Our servant maid, one of Zorro's friends used to call him “bhayee”. For the first 2 days, I dint even listen to her properly. Then I asked her –“ whom are u calling ‘bai’ and I don’t find a Muslim in our neighborhood”
She replied saying-“ I am calling your doggy with his name”.
I was shocked and asked her-“ bai ”?, My dog’s name?
She said- Yes, you keep calling him with his full name”kuddubhayee” and I call him with his sir name “bhayee” .

I was frozen for a moment. Could not control my laughter though. I guess she must have thought it to be something like- “jaggubai” or whatever. Then I explained her as to what I meant by those words-“good boy!!!” that energizes my doggy everytime, and not “kuddubhayee”.

Not only our servant maid but our customary flower vendor, a small gal used to call him “zorron” just like “everon” or something. I spelled out his name for her, cute little gal got it right the next moment. I was happy. But the next day on, she was back to square one.

The worst part comes here, zorro’s veterinary doctor came home weeks before to do all the vaccinations and he just went close to my doggy, gently moved his fingers over the short velvety hair near dob’s neck and said- “c’mon zero, kindly co-operate!!!”

On hearing that I was like – “OMG”.. I immediately asked the doctor-“sir, did u cal him zero (zilch)?”
He replied- yes, isn’t his name?

I gave a great sigh of weariness!!

I wonder if only names like-“supramaniiiii”, “jonny”,”jimmy” would be apt for our people to really understand and phonate… Still wondering ….
